Candy Sushi

This is fun to make and fun to eat! This would be a great activity with the kids over the holidays. The last time I made this was for my niece, i shipped it to her when she was at sleep away camp. She and her friends loved it

INGREDIENTS

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT

  • Bamboo sushi mat

  • Plastic wrap

  • Spatula

DIRECTIONS

FOR THE RICE KRISPIES:

Stove Top Directions

  1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat

  2. Add Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal. We go a bit on the light side, start by adding 3 cups of rice krispies, you want the rice krispie mix to by pliable . Stir until well coated.

Microwave Directions

  1. In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth

  2. Add Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal. We go a bit on the light side, start by adding 3 cups of rice krispies, you want the rice krispie mix to by pliable . Stir until well coated.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE:

Wrap the bamboo matt in plastic wrap, and on one side coat with non-stick spray

Sushi Roll

  1. Place fruit roll ups on bamboo mat, then cover fruit roll ups with an even layer of prepared rice krispie mix.  Smooth gently with a non-stick sprayed spatula or rice paddle

  2. Layering candy options as you wish… be creative. You can make a line squeeze of green icing along the candy through the center (see picture above) Then roll up tightly, keeping the bamboo mat on the outside.  Remove bamboo mat.

  3. Slice with a sharp knife, and enjoy

Inside Out Rolle

  1. Place rice krispie mix onto the non-stick sprayed, plastic wrapped bamboo mat. Place single layer fruit rollup on top of rice.

  2. Layering candy options as you wish… be creative.  Then roll up tightly, keeping the bamboo mat on the outside.  Remove bamboo mat.

  3. Role in sprinkles

  4. Slice with a sharp knife, and enjoy

Swedish Fish/Rainbow Topped Inside Out Roll

  1. Follow steps for Inside out roll, skipping the sprinkles

  2. Place Swedish fish side by side across top of sushi roll

  3. Press down with bamboo matt forming fish to roll shape

  4. Slice with a sharp knife, and enjoy

Garnish

  • Green Icing dollop (like wasabi)

  • Little dish of chocolate syrup for dipping (like soy sauce)
